Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Sergey Borshch held a press conference in Moscow today. He told reporters that due to spring floods in the Moscow region, flooding is possible.

He named three municipalities where such a natural phenomenon is possible – Serpukhov, Kashira and Kolomna.

“The flood level on the Oka River will exceed the norm in the Moscow Region by 1.7-1.8 m. In the Moskva River, it will be 0.2-0.3 meters above the norm in the Kolomna area, ”said Sergey Borshch.

For reference: Over the past 90 years, in the Serpukhov Oka area, it has risen above 8.5 m in 1931, 1932, 1934, 1937, 1941, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1958, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1964 , 1966, 1967, 1970, 1979, 1994, 1997 and 1999. In the XXI century, the strongest flood in the vicinity of Serpukhov was observed in 2002 – 8.3 m and in 2013 – 8.4 m.
