Kyrgyzstanis win 13 medals at World Wrestling Championship
This was reported by the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On the first day of the championship, November 22, freestyle belt wrestling competitions were held, where the Kyrgyzstani Bekbolsun Kushubakov defeated the Russian Ildar Abasov in heavyweight and became the champion.
Also, Kyrgyzstanis won silver in the category of 68 kilograms and bronze in the weight of 90 kilograms.
On the second day of the world championship, November 23, the athletes wrestling in the classical style met on the carpet. Here the national team of Kyrgyzstan won 8 medals at once. The highest award was taken by two domestic athletes – Nagira Sarbasheva (76+) and Nurbek Kozhobekov (up to 90 kg).
At the World Championship in belt wrestling in two styles, the national team of Kyrgyzstan won 13 medals: 3 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze. In the team standings, Kyrgyzstan took second place, and Russia took first place. The third place was taken by the national team of Kazakhstan.
Athletes from 20 countries participated in the championship.
