IT expert Kashkin advised Russians to be careful with online banks

Russians have been warned that web versions of online banks are more likely to be targeted by cybercriminals than apps. IT expert Evgeny Kashkin shared the details.

After many applications were blocked in official stores, Russian banks offered users an alternative. Online banks still function when logged in through a browser. However, this method jeopardizes the security of personal data, the expert believes, since the protection there is much lower than in mobile applications.

For comparison, when installing the application, a complex multi-stage data verification is required, the program itself is tied to the gadget, and additional passwords only increase the chances of safely storing money on the card. Web versions are an external service. It is easy to copy it, and then trick it into going to the right site and entering all the personal data. To protect yourself from intruders, do not follow the links offered in letters or SMS messages.
