A young swimmer from Tver, Ilya Zhukov, recently rewrote the Russian age record in swimming among 11-year-old boys at a distance of 50 meters on the back.
From December 6 to 7, in the 25-meter swimming pool of the Proletarka sports complex in Tver, the 16th swimming tournament among athletes from the cities of the center of Russia was held. On the first day of the competition, Ilya Zhukov overcame the fifty dollars on his back with a new national record among boys aged 11 – 30.92. Ilya, the first of his peers, managed to swim out of the 31st second and improved by 40 hundredths last year's result of the St. Petersburg swimmer Danila Zaitsev (31.32).
“I was very prepared for these competitions,” Sportvisor.ru quotes the athlete. – And, of course, I was confident in myself, and swam perfectly, as we planned with the coach to get out of 31 seconds. Our team, including me, is now preparing for competitions in Germany, on December 11 we are leaving for the city of Regensburg for international competitions.”
According to the results of the tournament held in Tver, Zhukov became the winner at all three distances in backstroke among athletes born in 2003-2004. Ilya finished in 1:09.04 in the 100m backstroke and 2:27.58 in the 200m backstroke. As the athlete himself noted, it is these distances that he considers the main ones for himself, plus the 50 m butterfly.
Ilya Zhukov is one of the strongest swimmers in Russia among young men born in 2003. The athlete trains at the Tver Youth Sports School under the guidance of the most experienced coach Rustem Nurievich Bodurov.
